Project LOTUS House: A safe-haven for dogs in need...
Lilo's Promise Animal Rescue has been working so hard on our dream of opening an adoption home and safe-haven. A place where dogs can play, train and live in a safe loving home environment until they are adopted into their forever homes. All dogs will be up for adoption, it will not be a sanctuary.
Every day we receive numerous phone calls and emails about dogs who are in urgent situations. And because we do not have our own facility or a place to quarantine sick puppies, sadly we have to turn them away. Some months we spend over $2,000.00 on kenneling alone, not including veterinary care, spaying/neutering, food and misc. expenses for the dogs.
Having our own safe-haven will enable us to save more lives and provide them with a home environment where they can flourish while waiting to be adopted.
Our dream is called :"L.O.T.U.S. House": Life Options through Unconventional Sheltering.
Why do the dogs need this? Dogs do not thrive in a kennel setting and would blossom living in a home with training and real life experience. Having our own safe-haven will enable us to save more lives and provide them with an amazing life while they wait to be adopted. LPAR takes in dogs that are in need of a second chance for many reasons, mostly due to the overcrowding in the shelter systems. Our mission ensures that each dog will receive everything they need to succeed as a loved family member.
For those of you who are not familiar with mission LOTUS House, it is a unique concept that we believe will do amazing things for dogs and better prepare them for their forever homes. LOTUS House will be a home for dogs to come where they can learn their obedience, socialization, home manners, to heal and to blossom. We will still have our foster program and LOTUS House will mostly house the dogs that need extra work. For dogs we cannot find foster homes for they are currently kenneled in private boarding which some months can cost us upwards of $2,000 per month! It is not easy to give these dogs what they need or work with them as often and as consistently as they need when they are being boarded. Dogs do not have the opportunity to blossom half as much as they could in a home setting. It is no life for the dogs who are harder to adopt or being overlooked and spend months in boarding even with us being there every day.
At LOTUS House, they can be exercised every day, play with other dogs, socialize with volunteers, if they are not dog social, learn to be dog social or just have manners near other dogs. To learn their house manners- no counter surfing, housebreaking, crate-training, no couch unless invited, waiting at the door, and so much more. And someone to live in the home with them so they are not alone at night. We believe living this life will much better prepare them for when they are adopted and thus a successful adoption. We want to ensure that dogs being adopted are ready and that they will succeed!
Lilo's needs to raise a total of $150,00 for the home and few acres of property that we need. But we can't do this alone!
We need those who support us and believe in our cause to help us kick this mission into high gear. Getting the word out, fundraising and more fundraising!
